Island Hopping

On the west coast of Florida, we are fortunate to have a collection of incredibly stunning islands. Here are a few that we love to visit:

Shell Key holds a special place among Captain Vinnie’s top choices. It covers an impressive 195 acres; it stands as one of St. Pete/Clearwater’s largest untouched barrier islands. This coastal gem is renowned for its abundant collection of stunning shells and sand dollars. With our exclusive private boat tour, we transport you to an area that remains hidden from the masses, allowing for a unique experience. Snorkeling adds another layer of excitement, as you observe fish and uncover larger shells during your exploration.

– NEW Shell Key Sandbar is quickly becoming one of our most requested stops—and for good reason. This newly formed island emerged in May 2025 and has rapidly grown into a must-see destination. Located about a mile off the coast, the sandbar is surrounded by shallow water just 2 to 4 feet deep, making it perfect for snorkeling, wading, or simply relaxing. Guests love exploring the area for conch shells, sand dollars, and some of the biggest shells you’ll find in the area. You can walk along the dry part of the sandbar or snorkel the surrounding shallows in search of hidden treasures. It also offers stunning photo opportunities, with views that look like something out of a postcard. Dolphins and manatees are frequently spotted nearby, adding to the magic of this incredible location.

Egmont Key is a sizable island, spanning nearly 200 acres. It holds historical significance as a former site of The Spanish American War. As a testament to its rich past, remnants of gun batteries, a lighthouse, and artifacts from the war still grace the island, making it a true local treasure that comes highly recommended. The island is abundant wildlife, including a population of gopher tortoises and box turtles, some people call it turtle island. At the southern tip of Egmont Key lie two sunken batteries, creating ideal snorkeling spots that we thoroughly enjoy during our tours.

-Outback Key one of the newer islands in the region, was formed 8 years ago as a result of powerful hurricane winds and sizable waves. These waves pushed sand from a nearby sandbar, eventually creating what is now a beautiful and ever-growing island. With each passing year, Outback Key continues to expand, offering stunning scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Although some still refer to it as Sand Dollar Island, it was officially named Outback Key two years ago.
